Johanna M. Poppek received her Master’s degree in Computational Linguistics from Ruhr-University Bochum in 2017, being a Research Associate at the Department of Linguistics since January 2016.
I am currently a PhD Student in Computational Linguistics at the Linguistic Data Science at Ruhr-University Bochum. My research interests include approaching linguistic issues with the help of modern data-driven methods of Machine Leaning and Deep Learning - especially concerning multi-disciplinary fields of research like countability or the interaction between syntax and semantics as well as classical Natural Language Processing. Since I have a keen interest for all kinds of data science aspects, I also work in experimental linguistics and corpus linguistics.
My teaching focuses on practical lectures for NLP and Machine Learning in both Python and R.
The project aims for an empirical model of the properties of EO verbs and a uniform analysis of German word order patterns and reflexive binding. The project is supported by a DFG grant (KI 759/9-1).
